It has also been produced as the Escort EXP, the Mercury LN7, the Mercury Lynx, and the 91-99 Mercury Tracer. There is another variant produced in 1998, the Escort ZX2, and was made throught the 2003 model year. The same basic engine has been used, the SOHC CVH 4 cylinder, 1.6L, 1.9L, 1.9L, 1.9L SEFI, and the 2.0L SPI. There cars have also been produced with a 1.6L Turbo, a 1.8L DOHC, and the 2.0L DOHC Zetec used in the Escort ZX2. There has been 3 basic gnerations of the Escort. The first generation running from 1981 through 1990. The second generation was thourghly redesigned in 1991 and made through 1996. The third generation was produced from 1997 through 2002.

383 Stroker is a website owned by Precision Engine Rebuilders. We're proud to say this is true. As with any 'stroker' engine, the 383 stroker uses an altered crankshaft to increase the stroke of the pistons. This increased stroke allows you to get more air and fuel into the cylinders, thus increasing displacement without changing engine blocks. The increased fuel and air means more horsepower and torque! The Chevy 383 Stroker is an 8 cylinder engine that uses the popular production Chevrolet 350 block and a slightly altered Chevrolet 400 crank. A stock 350 has a piston stroke length of 3.48 inches. The 400 crank changes the 383 to a total stroke of 3.75 inches. This produces a total displacement of 383 cubic inches (thus the name 383). This displacement means that a Chevy 383 Stroker is capable of drawing in a total of 383 cubic inches of air/fuel mixture into it’s cylinder chambers during one cycle of the 8 pistons. Small block Chevrolet engines have been popular since their introduction in 1955 powering the Corvette with 265 cubic inches and 195 horsepower. The small block Chevy engine reached this popularity because if the relative low cost to build, customize, and maintain these engine. The 350 took the performance of the Chevy small block to a new level when it was introduced in the 1967 Chevy Camaro producing 295 horsepower. Since that time, the Chevy 350 has been the standard when it comes to engine swaps. Many automotive enthusiasts seeking more performance began converting their pre-1967 cars to the 350 engine and are still doing so today. The Chevy 383 Stroker draws much of its popular from the fact that it uses and improves upon the 350 block. Because many of the parts interchange between all small block Chevy engines, upgrading another one to a 350 or 383 Stroker is easy and cost-efficient. This has lead many of the horsepower seeking Chevrolet enthusiasts to the 383 stroker.
